For founders and product teams

Hear the objections before the launch.

You know the product too well to hear it the way a stranger will. Brief Solon on the idea, the price or the page you’re about to ship, and watch a small panel talk it through, with what each person thinks and doesn’t say.

Drawn portrait of a Latina woman in her twenties with curly hair tied back, in a cardigan.
Drawn portrait of an East Asian man in his forties with glasses, in a sweater.
Drawn portrait of a white woman in her eighties with her hair pinned up, in a knitted cardigan.

Faces from Solon’s portrait library. Each person on a panel gets one, matched to their age, sex and background as closely as the library allows, and no two people in a room share one.

  1. Bring what you have

A few lines of brief, plus the deck, the page, the pack shot or a video. Up to 12 materials. A video is turned into stills in your browser; the file itself is never uploaded.

  2. Choose who’s in the room

The recruiter suggests who should be there from your brief. Change any of it: what they buy, their ages, where they live, what they earn, how they feel about the category coming in.

  3. Leave with what to test

The report ends with hypotheses to test with real customers, and how to test each one. Anything it missed, ask the moderator.

Every project

One focus group, start to finish.

Brief, Panel, Session, Report, Ask. The same five steps in every project, on every plan.

A panel

3 to 8 people, each built on a real, anonymous Census record, with a life story, a way of talking and a way of behaving in a group.

A session you watch

A moderator runs the discussion from a guide you read first. Turn on inner thoughts to see what each person keeps to themselves.

A report

Findings, themes, each person’s arc, what went unsaid and what to test next. Download it as a PDF.

Follow-up questions

Up to 25 questions to the moderator, who goes back to the panel one-on-one when it needs to.

The plan

Solon 1. 1 project.

$29 · one payment

One Solon is one project: a brief, a panel, one session, its report and up to 25 follow-up questions.

No subscription, and nothing renews. Projects don’t expire.
